I was planning on joining the Military out of High School, I did not serve out of going after the "bad guys" that became the massive vacuum call to arms after the terrorist attacks.
Many in the Barracks assumed so since we just arrived after 9/11. No, My sense of duty is what drove me through it. I knew an angry army attacking out of revenge would need to be watched closely. Atrocities and reprisals always follow after a surprise attack.
A Military's actions are always reflected in the "General" Commanding it.
Sun Tzu- said: “All warfare is based on deception” and “Speed is the essence of war. Take advantage of the enemy’s unpreparedness; travel by unexpected routes and strike him where has taken no precautions.”
I remember learning of the attack like it was yesterday, I was sitting in a psychology class discussing the Mind of a Killer.
A few moments later, a teacher came in and whispered to our teacher there was something that happened.
The next thing my teacher does is turns on the news and there we see it. The Burning Twin Towers, the Side of the Pentagon in flames, and the shock of my classmates.
One thing I knew is the United States had been attacked before which resulted in the United States being brought into war-zones. -The Sinking of the Lusitania by the German Navy's U-boats. - Brought the US into World War 1.
December 7th, Pearl Harbor Attack on the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor which resulted in the United States being brought into World War 2.
And now September 11th, 2001- Where Airliners were used as Giant Missiles against Civilian targets as well as the Pentagon. Brought the United States to the Lands of Afganistan and the Start of the "War on Terror".
Every Time we were attacked, We were unprepared. All, the Attacks were made on Unexpected routes on locations that were taking no precautions.
They followed Sun Tzu to the letter in this regard.
However, they failed to remember the lessons of the last time we as a nation rose up in defiance of those who would threaten the nation let alone the world.
Thus after many deliberations came the Steel Rain, from the Land Sea and Air. Straight into the lands of Afganistan. While justified in response, it made me feel for their people as not everyone agreed with the Taliban's actions.
Sept-Dec 2001 - The Unsung War-
The Taliban and Osama Bidladen, who claimed responsibility for September 11th at the time really had no idea what hornet's nest they'd kicked over. They just "attacked the Big Bad United States go us!, Look how powerful we are, they will Fear us!" -Sentiments that would make them eat their own words.
The funny thing about History and Fear Mongereers they usually end up "removed" in one way or another. This was no exception.
Look at you? (Satilights) Fear you? um. no.
Oh, you poor child You just gave the Eagle a black eye, and did you expect him to take that lying down? You know what an Eagle is right? In case you don't so let me spell this out for you. BIRD OF FUCKING PREY!
You do realize, This Eagle, while has done some pretty terrible things in the service of it's a nation, it has also helped many nations (The Crown, The Iron Cross, The Hammer and Syicle, Kingdom of Italy, Tricolor, ) to Defeat some of the most oppressive regimes (Black Shirts, Brownshirts, and IJE and other Facist \Terror regimes) across the globe. Freedom for their people.
You do know an Eagle can drop a stag off a cliff right? well - You just became that stag on the cliff and a Swarm of Eagles (🇺🇸 and 🇦🇫) are diving right at you.
An Unforeseen Ally: The Northern Alliance (Defender of the Afgan People).🇦🇫
There is an old saying The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
The Northern Alliance had been dealing with these guys for quite some time well before September 11th and had quite enough of their Massacre's and Oppression and decided this may be the best time to unroot the Taliban's foothold that was strangling the Afgan people.
The Northern Alliance, Military went on an all-out Offensive and Took on the Taliban fighters on the ground, while the United States providing Air Support.
The media made a frenzy of the United States Military helping the Northern Alliance Troops on the ground, showing bombing raids, on strongholds to the lone RPG Taliban Fighters trying to fend off the massive storm that had just been dropped on them. Made you wonder if this was what they (the Taliban) really signed on for.
By December of that year, The Northern Alliance had declared Absolute Victory, I was watching the news of the massive surrender marches of the remaining Taliban fighters but what was quite extraordinary was when the Victorius Northern Alliance Troops, passed the defeated Taliban, The Northern Alliance, welcomed them with open arms gave them hugs even after all of the horrible things the Taliban must have done to them. This was something I never forgot. I like to think that The Northern Alliance while fighting off the terrorist policies of the Taliban regime (they still are to this day by the way but through dialog instead of arms.) They still saw their enemies Humanity in a savage war that tore their country apart as they were fighting to free their people from the grips of an extremist government that caused so much pain. They could have massacred them like what the Taliban did to them but they didn't. The lesson to be learned. -- Our Humanity got us into this mess. Our Humanity will get us out of this mess. 🇺🇸 and 🇦🇫
